Vision alone is not enough in leadership, execution is the key: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay

Dharamshala: A week-long leadership training workshop for the 10th standard students belonging to different Tibetan schools concluded today with a power-packed discourse on leadership by the President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay.

President Sangay said that visionary leadership alone is not enough, one must be driven with a passion to execute the vision. He explained many attributes needed for competent leadership, one that is capable of inspiring others.

“He who imposes his leadership isn’t a leader. A leader is someone who doesn’t let failures and limitations get the best of him and faces the challenges and criticisms with a positive attitude” said President Sangay.

President reminded the students that developing a holistic view of the problems is significant. In addition, honesty and integrity combined with diligence must also be cultivated.

Calling the students as future leaders, President reminded them that their knowledge and education should have a likely contribution to the cause of Tibet.

“You are not studying simply for a career, but for a cause,” he said.

In conclusion, President Sangay called for maximum participation from the students in such a workshop in the future. He felicitated all the participants and organiser including the staff.

Attending the event was the organiser led by  Education Kalon Dr. Pema Yangchen,  Education Secretary Karma Singey and the staff members of the Department of Education. A total of 28 Tibetan schools and over 280 students participated in the workshop. The workshop is held annually, an initiative of the Department of Education and this is the 7th time since its inception.
