Puruwala Tibetans mark “Gratitude Year” to His Holiness the Dalai Lama by convening monthly prayer sessions

Puruwala: Puruwala Tibetan settlement observed, “Year of Gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama” designated by the Kashag, CTA, by establishing a committee constituting of the Settlement Officer, President of Local Tibetan Assembly, General Secretary of Sakya Tibetan Society Office, President of BRDL, School Administrator, President of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, and President of Tibetan Women’s Association.

The committee following discussions about activities to convene under the programme have decided to hold prayer sessions dedicated to His Holiness the Dalai Lama beginning from October 1 at the community hall in adherence to social distancing rules, using facemasks and maintaining required physical distance.

The prayer session was initiated with the butter lamp offering made to the portrait of His Holiness by the Settlement Officer, President and Secretary of Local Tibetan Assembly, and ceremonial scarf offering from the public.

Those who are unable to attend the prayer ceremony are required to offer prayers from their homes and at the end of each month, submit the total count of the prayers dedicated.

At the prayer sessions, the attendees are provided refreshments from the public funds received by the committee.

The prayer session will be convened on the 15th of every month of the Tibetan calendar till the “Gratitude Year” concludes.

Other activities apart from the prayer session are expected successively.
