Dorje Tsering Takes Charge as Tibetan Settlement Officer of Samyeling in Delhi

Delhi: Dorje Tsering has taken charge as the new Tibetan settlement officer of Samyeling in Majnukatilla, Delhi, from outgoing settlement officer Phuntsok Topgyal following a handover ceremony held from 27-29 December. The handover ceremony was attended by Dawa Tsultrim as the official witness on behalf of the Department of Home.

On the first day of the handover on 27 December, the official files, letters, books, and office equipment were handed over to the new settlement officer. On the second day of the handover on 28 December, following the exchange of the official chair, a brief ceremony attended by representatives from governmental and non-governmental organisations based in Delhi was held. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of 13 Tibetan Sweater Sellers Associations from Haryana and Ambala. The Tibetan public of the settlement was not invited due to Covid restrictions on large gatherings. The new Settlement officer addressed the public while the outgoing settlement officer gave a farewell address at the ceremony.

On the final day of the handover on 29 December, the outgoing settlement officer introduced the new settlement officer, the new accountant and the new Office Secretary to the local Tibetan and Indian dignitaries based in Delhi. The local dignitaries include Representative Ngodup Dongchung, ITCO Coordinator Jigme Tsultrim, Prahlad Singh Sahney  (MLA Chandni Chowk) AAP, Councillor Avtar Singh (MCD, Civil Line, North Delhi) BJP, Shri Pankaj Goyal BTSM National General Secretary, and Shri Anil Kumar Mongai (BTSM).
