Background: The Jangthang region, particularly Hanley, is home to a significant population and hosts important facilities such as the branch school of Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV). Recognizing the need for suitable accommodations for official visitors, the Chief Representative Office, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement, initiated a project to renovate the guest room in Hanley. However, a natural storm in May 2023 caused damage to the ceiling roof of the guest room, necessitating immediate repairs.

Project Implementation: Upon discovering the damage, the Chief Representative Office promptly notified the Department of Home, CTA, and sought funding assistance from the Ladakh office. Subsequently, the Department of Home approved the allocation of INR 300,000.00 from unutilized funds for the renovation project. The project committee convened to discuss the necessary repairs and proceeded with the work as per the approved design.

Project Objectives:

  • To repair the damage caused by the storm and restore the functionality and safety of the Hanley guest room.
  • To provide suitable accommodations for internal and external delegates visiting the Jangthang region.
  • To address the public demand for guest accommodations without relying on external facilities such as the TCV School.

Project Activities and Achievements:
