Project Justification and Background:

The Chief Representative Office (CRO) of Sonamling Tibetan Settlement, established in 1960 under the esteemed guidance of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), has been steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of the Sonamling community. With a population largely adhering to a semi-nomadic lifestyle, the Sonamling people have unique needs and challenges.

In recent years, Ladakh has experienced significant climate change, leading to harsher summers characterized by scorching heat. This climatic shift has underscored the urgent need for infrastructure improvements within the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement. Specifically, there is a pressing need for a parking shed to protect office vehicles from the intense sun, as well as a storage facility to safeguard essential office documents and supplies.

Recognizing the importance of addressing these needs, the Department of Home, CTA, has generously sanctioned funds for the reconstruction of a storeroom and parking shed for office vehicles at the CRO. This project is not only crucial for the immediate comfort and functionality of the office but also holds promise for long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.

Project Execution:

To ensure the successful implementation of this project, an 11-member project committee was formed. This committee has been tasked with procuring materials, overseeing construction activities, and ensuring the timely completion of the project. By leveraging the collective expertise and dedication of its members, the project committee is committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement.
