Bir Dege Lily Community Hall Roofing Project Completion Report

INTRODUCTION

Lily Tibetan Village Welfare Society is located at Bir near Chokling Monastery for newly arrived Tibetans from Tibet. Department of Home (CTA) Dharamsala has sanctioned funding of amount INR.8, 15,602/- (Eight Lakh, Fifteen thousand, Six hundred & Two only) for the community hall roofing project at Lily Tibetan Village Welfare Society under Dege Settlement Office at Bir (FY-2023-2024).

Project duration according to the agreement: 10th June 2023 till 25th July2023.

The community hall is for the use of the entire Lily Tibetan Village & Welfare Society at Bir. It is the only place where all the members gather for the important functions, society meetings, for celebrations of important occasions, marriages, and annual religious event-Dechen Shingdup prayer. The community hall is an important medium that brings the whole community together. It was initially built by the previous Lily executive members with help of donations from few generous lamas and businessmen from the community.

CONCLUSION

There have been issues of transportation due to absence of proper road leading to the project site. The road is a track made by the truck or tractor to access the construction site. An unpaved road. The incessant rain was a major issue for the unfavorable condition of the track leading to the project site. Lily project management had to hire various vehicles to transport the materials. But initially The Lilly community hall roofing project is successfully completed with active involvement of all the member. The additional secretary Mr. Tenzin Norbu, Engineer Mr. Tenpa, sponsorship secretary Mr. Yeshi Tenzin & Miss Tashi Deckyi conducted a visit to the project site and gave valuable inputs and feedback.
