Youth Empowerment Support (YES) section of Home Department sanctions loan to 34 Tibetan youth

Youth Empowerment Support (YES) section of the Department of Home, CTA disbursed a micro-credit of INR 39,00,000 to 34 Tibetan youth based in 7 different Tibetan Settlement in the year 2020-2021. The micro-credit program of the YES program is primarily designed to support the Tibetan youth to become self-reliant by helping them establish micro-enterprise or small business in and around the Tibetan settlement after the completion of the skill training.

In the year 2020-21, Tibetan Settlement Office (TSO) from the following settlement recommended loan application for their youth and the applications were approved accordingly after a strict scrutiny.

The loan program of YES is implemented as per the Loan guidelines formulated and it is the oldest loan program of CTA which is still running effectively to this day.  The program also contributes to making our Tibetan settlement sustainable and viable by limiting the area of operation of the business to in and around the Tibetan settlement.

Since its inception in 1997, the micro-credit program has supported hundreds of Tibetan youth to establish a small business and earn a decent living without having to financially depend on their families and others.
