US Consul General Judith Ravin visits Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement

Consul General Judith Ravin of Chennai based US Consulate paid a brief visit to Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement early morning at 6:30 am on 13th August 2022 from nearby hill town of Madekeri accompanied by her consulate staff, Ms Brindha Jayakanth, a public Engagement Specialist. While on a private visit she and her aide visited main Cathedral of the famous Golden Temple in South India and offered obeisance and prayers.

Earlier on their arrival, the delegates were welcomed by the Chief Representative Officer Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim, Settlement Officers Mr. Lobsang Yeshi and Mr. Chime Dorjee, Venerable Tulku Chodar, Managing Trustee, Secretaries of Lopon Gyurmey and Lopon Tenzin Yeshi of Namdroling Monastery and former Prof. Ramu Manivannan of University of Madras.

During the brief interactions, Ms. Ravin enquired about the general history of the monastery and its evolution in relations with the local residents. She also asked about the progress of the USAIDs and PRM funded projects, its benefit to the Tibetan residents and ways to promote further these projects in future.

Prior to their departure from the settlement, Mr. Tsultrim thanked Consular General for her visit and also conveyed gratitude for the unwavering support and solidarity from the US Government for the Tibetan people and their struggle.
