As per the directive from the Department of Home, CTA the Tibetan Settlement Office of Lugsam has been taking all the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the settlement people.
An emergency relief fund of 5000 each and Migsel stipend were distributed to the distressed families undergoing economic challenges and the destitute within the settlement respectively. The settlement officer along with the settlement leaders and representative from monasteries made a collective effort to notify the people about the need to strictly adhere to the proper guidelines of quarantine rule set by the state government. Proper sanitization drive was carried out throughout the settlement.
Vehicle facilities and travel permits were made possible for a total of 22 students returning to Dharamsala by the settlement officer as guided by the Department of Education.
Around 631 elderly members above 65 years of age and another 368 patients with health problems were provided Sorig immune boosters as per the directive from Health Department. Moreover, food security of dry ration worth INR 11,000 was distributed to a total of 3 individuals who haven’t availed other relief assistance made possible by the Central Tibetan Administration.
Since May 2020, a total of 226 people have reached the settlement after the relaxation of the lock-down out of which 126 have been examined for COVID-19 symptoms.
