Off Campus Training Program

On January 2nd 2024, Organic Research and Training Centre ,a unit of CTRC,Department of home,CTA in collaboration with the District Agriculture Training Centre in Nagahalli, Mysore, organized a one-day training program for Bylakuppe and Hunsur farmers with a total of 54 participants ,including 29 males and 25 females. The training was on Integrated Crop, Nutrition, and Pest Management in Citrus Crops (lemon, mandarin, orange, and exotic species). The event took place at ORTC, starting with welcome talks by Director of ORTC Mr. Tsering Dorjee la and introductory words by Dr. Yogesh G.H.(Deputy director of agriculture,DATC,Nagahanalli.

Dr. Muralidhara  fruit  scientist discussed genetic diversity in citrus fruit crops. Other experts like Dr. Nayan Deepak G.  fruit scientist covered production technology, Dr. Rajendiran S.  soil scientist talked about nutritional management, and Dr. Rani A.T. Entomologist discussed integrated pest and disease management. Dr. Rahul Das also shared knowledge on integrated nutrient management. Farmers and experts got hands-on field sessions to learn how to prevent insect pests, identify the right chemicals for various citrus plant diseases, and how to take proper care of citrus plant and its pruning techniques. These hands on field experience led to meaningful exchange of knowledge between farmers and experts. Over all the training was fruitful and learning experience to our farmers.
