The Chief Representative Office (CTA), South Zone, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education (DLiHE), organised a talk series at Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) on 25 September 2026 as part of the Tibetan National Identity Preservation Week.

The programme was organised in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences and Languages and was warmly received by the university faculty members, including Ms. Ramya B., Associate Professor and Head of the Department of History; Dr. Sameena M.S., Assistant Professor; and Dr. Sikha Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, along with other faculty members.

Ms. Tenzin Dolker, RDMO, CRO South Zone, briefed the students on the significance of Tibetan National Identity Preservation Week, observed by the Central Tibetan Administration during the fourth week of September each year. She emphasised the importance of safeguarding and strengthening Tibet’s distinctive linguistic, cultural and religious heritage.

Mr. Ngawang Gyatso, Dean and Lecturer, DLiHE, spoke on the prevailing situation inside Tibet, particularly the challenges concerning the preservation of Tibetan language, culture and religion. He encouraged the students to deepen their understanding of Tibet and contribute towards amplifying Tibetan voices.

Geshe Tenzin Celon, Lecturer in Buddhist Philosophy, DLiHE, spoke on the Four Principal Commitments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, highlighting their enduring relevance and universal significance.

The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, providing the students with an opportunity to engage with the speakers and gain further insights into the subjects discussed.

The programme concluded with a meeting with Fr. Dr. Augustine George CMI, Vice Chancellor of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), during which a Buddha Thangka was presented to him as a token of appreciation for his valued support and cooperation
