BYLAKUPPE: ON 22 JUL 2026
1. His Excellency the Ambassador of France to India, Mr. Thierry Mathou,
accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Cécile Mathou, paid a courtesy and pilgrimage
visit to Sera Jey Monastery, Namdroling Monastery, and Tashi Lhunpo
Monastery in Bylakuppe on 22 July 2026. His Excellency was accompanied by
the Consul General of France in Bengaluru, Mr. Marc Lamy.
2. During the visit, Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer (CRO),
South Zone, accompanied the distinguished guests throughout the programme. At
each monastery, the delegation was warmly received by the respective Abbots, Tulkus,
and monastic representatives. The Abbots of Sera Jey Monastery, Namdroling
Monastery, and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery extended their greetings and welcomed the
Ambassador, the Consul General, and the accompanying members of the
French Consulate in Bengaluru.
3. The visit provided an opportunity for the distinguished guests to pay their
respects at the monasteries and gain a deeper understanding of the rich religious,
cultural, and spiritual heritage of the Tibetan community in Bylakuppe, which is
deeply rooted in the ancient Indian Wisdom of Buddhist Philosophy and Science.
4. Upon the completion of the visit, the Ambassador Consul General of France, his
wife and the accompanying delegation departed from Bylakuppe on the same day. They
were seen off by Mr. Jigmey Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer (CRO), South Zone.
