Official Visit to Bylakupe Lugsum by Home Department Official

Bylakuppe, April 9 – Additional Secretary Mrs. Tsering Youdon, accompanied by dealing staff Ms. Ngawang Dolkar, conducted an official visit to Lugsum Settlement on April 8 and 9. Upon arrival, the delegation was received by the Settlement Officer of Lugsum and Delar.

The visit commenced with an inspection of the Organic Research and Training Centre (ORTC) fields. Officials were briefed on ongoing agricultural activities, including the operation of a soil testing laboratory currently handling 53 soil samples. The centre is engaged in a range of cultivation initiatives such as vanilla trial plots, citrus fruits, hot peppers, yellow dragon fruit, and multiple varieties of avocado, alongside other crops. Vermiculture practices and the production of organic manure were also observed.

The delegation also reviewed the livestock unit, which maintains a total of 29 cows, including 9 dairy cows. Milk produced is supplied to the settlement’s Old Age Home (OPH), retired staff quarters, and individual residents.

Subsequently, Mrs. Tsering Youdon visited the Old Age Home and assessed its overall condition. The facility currently houses 31 elderly residents and is supported by a staff of five.

The officials then proceeded to inspect the BBCC plotting area, spanning approximately 11 acres.

During the visit, completed projects under the financial year 2025–2026 were also reviewed. These included the construction of a community hall, roofing works, village drainage systems, internal roads, and other infrastructure developments.

The official tour of Lugsum concluded on April 9, after which the delegation departed for TSO Dickyi Larsoe.
