Report on the 42nd Pang-Lhab-Sol Celebration at Ravangla (30th August – 7th September 2025)

The 42nd Pang-Lhab-Sol festival was celebrated with great fervor and grandeur by the local community of Ravangla from 30th August to 7th September 2025. As in previous years, the festivities brought together people from across the region in a spirit of unity, devotion, and cultural pride. The week-long celebration featured an intra-state volleyball tournament, GPU-level cultural competitions, and a diverse array of performances that highlighted the rich traditions of the region.
This year marked a special milestone for Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement, Ravangla, as the settlement contributed a financial support of ₹25,000 towards the celebration. In addition, the Tibetan community actively participated throughout the festival, offering Tibetan cultural performances on all days of the event. On the concluding day, the traditional Toe-shay Ri Thonpo performance was presented, adding vibrancy and depth to the celebration in the presence of distinguished guests.
Among the dignitaries present were Shri Rigsal Dorjee, Area MLA; the ADC Rabongla; SDM Ravangla; BDO Ravangla; SDPO Ravangla; OSDs; and several senior leaders and dignitaries of the SKM party. Their gracious presence reflected the importance of Pang-Lhab-Sol as a cultural bridge between communities.
In honor of the Year of Compassion, the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), Ravangla, presented framed portraits of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama’s Four Principal Commitments to a total of 16 distinguished guests. This symbolic gesture was deeply appreciated and warmly received by all attendees.
A special highlight of the celebration was the formal recognition of Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement’s contribution. The Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO), Mr. Kalsang Tseten, was presented with a framed letter of appreciation by the Chairman of the Pang-Lhab-Sol Celebration Committee, Shri Wangyal Sherpa (SDM Ravangla), acknowledging the settlement’s vital role in the success of the event. TSO Kalsang Tseten was accompanied by Mr. Jamyang Dorjee, a master calligrapher from the settlement. As a gesture of respect and affection, both were presented with a statue of Lord Buddha by the Pang-Lhab-Sol Cultural and Religious Committee.
Throughout the festival, many dignitaries expressed their deep appreciation for the efforts and active participation of Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement. They assured their continued cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering cordial relations with the Tibetan community and the larger Ravangla society.
In his address, the Tibetan Settlement Officer, Mr. Kalsang Tseten, extended heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee for including him as a member of the Pang-Lhab-Sol Celebration Committee—a historic first in the 42-year history of the festival. He underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Tibetan community, local authorities, and the broader Ravangla populace. Mr. Tseten also appealed for the continued support and goodwill of the local administration and residents in nurturing harmony, cultural exchange, and mutual growth.
The 42nd Pang-Lhab-Sol celebration at Ravangla thus not only showcased the region’s vibrant cultural heritage but also highlighted the Tibetan community’s meaningful contribution in strengthening communal bonds and upholding the spirit of unity and compassion.
