TDL Co-Operative Society – March 20, 2025
The long-awaited renovation of the PACCS Staff Quarter at the TDL Co-Operative Society has successfully reached its completion. The project, which began on October 25, 2024, and concluded on March 20, 2025, aimed to provide upgraded facilities for the society’s staff, ensuring a safer, more comfortable living environment.
With a total project budget of Rs. 1,695,680, the renovation was funded through a combination of contributions, including a generous Rs. 1,617,075 received from the Vimala Association Swiss, alongside Rs. 78,605 contributed by the beneficiaries.
Key Renovation Activities:
The renovation work spanned a variety of upgrades to enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the staff quarters. Among the main activities were:
- The removal of the old clay shed (Zama) and the installation of a new tin shed with raised walls (center at 16ft and front at 10ft).
- Installation of new hand wash basins and tiles to improve sanitation and cleanliness.
- Construction of iron door frames, flush doors, and the installation of three-track aluminum windows for better ventilation and security.
- Interlocking tiles and the installation of granite marble stone for flooring.
- New stainless steel sinks were added to enhance kitchen facilities.
- Comprehensive painting and electrical works were carried out to provide a fresh and functional living space.
Planning and Design Phase:
The planning phase, which was initiated on October 25, 2024, involved meticulous discussions among key stakeholders, including the settlement officer, CEO of TDL Co-Operative Society, and project officers. During this phase, detailed quotations were developed and approved, laying the groundwork for a successful renovation.
Budget and Financial Planning:
A careful financial plan was developed after thorough site inspection, with quotations from contractors. This ensured that all financial aspects were transparent and agreed upon, guaranteeing that the project stayed within the approved budget.
Roofing and Infrastructure:
The renovation also included significant upgrades to the roofing. Steel trusses and framed work were installed, followed by the fitting of high-quality 0.45 JSW sheets to ensure durability and protection from the elements.
Testing and Final Approval:
Before the final handover, a thorough inspection was carried out by the settlement officer, project officer, and the CEO of TDL Co-Operative Society. They checked the entire renovation work, from roofing to electrical installations, ensuring that all specifications were met and that the project was completed to the highest quality standards.
Challenges and Success:
The renovation project faced no significant challenges during its execution, making the process smooth and efficient. The collaborative efforts of all involved parties ensured that the staff quarter now provides a much-needed improvement in living conditions.
