Day One:
On 26 November 2024, Sikyong Penpa Tsering attended the enthronement ceremony of the Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche Jetsun Lobsang Dorjee Pelsangpo as the 105th Gaden Tripa at Gaden Lachi.
Continuing with his ongoing official engagements in the region, Sikyong Penpa Tsering toured camp 2, Chenrezinling, camp 9, DTR Hospital, camp 10 and Old Age Home of Mundgod Tibetan Settlement with warm welcome reception from the residents.
Thereafter, Sikyong visited Drepung Loseling Monastery, Drepung Gomang, Mentsee Khang, Sakya Monastery, Ratoe Monastery which was followed by public talk to the Monks of above mentioned Monasteries at Drepung Lachi hall.
Day Two:
On 27 November 2024 Sikyong Penpa Tsering attended a ceremony, where long-life prayers were offered to the 105th Gaden Tripa Jetsun Lobsang Dorjee Pelsangpo and the 104th Gaden Tripa Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Pelsangpo at the Ganden Tritok Khang.
Continuing with his engagements he further visited Sambhota Tibetan School followed by a talk to the staffs and students. He toured camp 3, Tibetan Youth Congress, Ex-army Welfare Association, Camp 3 and Mentsee Khang with a warm welcome reception by the residents.
Thereafter, Sikyong visited Sambhota Primary School, Camp 1, Sakya Monastery, Nyigma Monastery, Ganden Shartse, Ganden Jhangtse which was followed by a public talk to the Monks of the above mentioned Monasteries at Ganden Lachi hall.
Day Three:
Continuing with his ongoing official engagements in the region, Sikyong Penpa Tsering toured camps 5 and 4 of the Doeguling Tibetan Settlement to a warm welcome reception from the residents and paid a visit to Kaygyu Monastery in camp 4.
Thereafter, Sikyong visited Drepung Loseling Monastery to attend the enthronement ceremony of the new Gaden Tri Rinpoche. Following this, Sikyong continued his tour of the settlement with brief visits to Norbu Hill, where he paid his respects to the sacred site, and then moved on to Camp 6. At Camp 6, Sikyong visited the STS School before proceeding to Camp 7 and Camp 8. During these visits, Sikyong was warmly welcomed by the Tibetan residents.
In the afternoon, Sikyong convened the public at the settlement’s community hall to address them.
Sikyong’s visit also included brief tours of several key institutions within the settlement, including the Settlement Office, the Local Tibetan Assembly office, the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement Office, the Regional Agriculture Cooperative Society, the “Reimagining Doeguling” project, and the Shiwatso Library.
Day Four:
Sikyong Penpa Tsering began his day in Mundgod with a visit to Drepung Loseling Tsukhang Khamtsen. He attended the enthronement ceremony of the 105th Gaden Tripa, the spiritual head of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Later that day, Sikyong also had a private audience with the newly enthroned Gaden Tri Rinpoche.
After the religious ceremonies, Sikyong’s itinerary included a brief but meaningful visit to Karma Foundation, a local charity dedicated to helping poor and needy children. The foundation provides educational support, food, and healthcare to underprivileged children, and Sikyong lauded the foundation’s efforts to improve the lives of the less fortunate.
On the way back Sikyong’s vist also included a stop at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centre at Keshav Kunj in Hubbali, where he delivered a speech on the historical and cultural relationship between Tibet and India.
