BBCC project at Tezu Settlement

From October 6th to 18th, 2024, a joint team led by Department joint secretary Mr. Tenzin Khenrab, Northeast section head Mr. Sonam Topgyal, and dealing staff Ms. Tenzin Norzin, along with Architect Tenpa and Engineer Wangyal, conducted an assessment tour to Tezu Dhargyeling Tibetan settlement under the Building Back Compact Community (BBCC) initiative. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate a plot of land for the proposed establishment of a new camp, approximately 1 kilometer away from the camp 5. Total of 31 households from the Tuting scattered area have agreed to relocate to this new area site.

The project began with site marking and analysis, with the first day primarily focused on plotting the main road. Electric poles and existing access roads were used as reference points for this process.

Although heavy rainfall hindered progress, the team persevered and continued working diligently. By the third day, significant progress had been made, and the team began inserting markstones into the plotted areas. While some team members inserted the markstones, others painted and numbered the central markstones. Meanwhile, a smaller team of four members inspected the access roads connecting the new site to the existing main camp.

On October 14th, 2024, all representatives and family members from the 31 households gathered in the main hall of Tezu Settlement, as per our prior notice. During the meeting, the nature of the completed work was explained, and the newly marked plots were distributed. This event marked the successful conclusion of this phase of the Dhargyeling Tibetan Settlement project.
