Under the benevolent fund support from MOST ProTibet based in Czech Republic, it is made possible to purchase winter fuel and goat for the destitute Tibetan families living in Leh itself and far-flung remote places of Ladakh during the peak of this winter season. The core object of this project is not only to help them secure the livelihood but to strengthen and encourage the nomadic people to preserve our rich culture and nomadic lifestyle.
The Chief Representative Officer (CRO) Ladakh led camp leaders and project committee conducted door to door assessment and careful verification with a view to provide necessary assistance to those destitute and needy people.
For the winter fuel, they purchased animal dung and distributed 1584 bags of fuel to 73 families in Leh Ladakh based on the four categories of living standard, 1) Poorest among the camp, 2) Physical disability, 3) Old age people & 4) Family with many children.
As for the goat project, they purchased and provided 3 animals to each family who have more than 100 livestock and 5 animals to each family with having less than 100 livestock and 7 each to the families with less than 50 livestock. There was total 34 destitute nomadic families in Jangthang who received support from this project, and they were quite happy and fortunate to get helped towards the betterment of their livelihood.
Total expense incurred for these two projects is INR 1,407,914/-.
