Home Department Additional Secretary Successfully Completes Official Visit to Ladakh and Northern Plains

Mr. Tenzin Nor, Additional Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs, successfully completed a 9-day official visit to Ladakh and the nomadic areas of the northern plains from April 11 to 19, 2024. In the Leh area of Ladakh, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council has granted land to provide housing facilities for the nomadic people of Northern Plains and Chushul. Due to the urgent need for new housing construction, the Department of Home Affairs conducted a detailed investigation regarding the housing construction process. The visit was carried out to follow up on the implementation according to the findings and to ensure thorough completion of the work.

Additionally, in the Changthang region, inspections were carried out on ongoing projects for the current fiscal year and pending projects in Nyoma, Sumdo, and Hanle. Furthermore, the renovation work of guesthouses in the nomadic areas of Changthang was examined. In Leh, guidance and inspection were provided for the site where a new Sarai/Dormitory for northern nomads is to be constructed.

During this visit, the Additional Secretary was accompanied by Mr. Wangyal, a construction specialist from the Department of Home Affairs.
