OFFICE OF THE CHIEF REPRESENTATIVE CUM CENTRAL TIBETAN RELIEF COMMITTEE, BANGALORE:

The Chief Representative cum South Zone Development Coordinator’s Office is a branch of the CTA and CTRC, in Dharamsala. The office was set up in 1987 to initially assist the Tibetan’s living in the 5 agricultural settlements in Karnataka State, with their socio-economic development programs. Since its inception the population in these settlements has doubled from natural growth and migration from other places, and now the number of population is define at 21,574. The jurisdiction of the office now includes Tibetans who are scattered in the various cities and towns of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Goa.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • To preserve, promote, and disseminate the unique national identity of Tibet and to achieve Genuine Autonomy for the Tibetan People
  • To observe the charter and directives of the Central Tibetan Administration and the law of the host country.
  • To retain and strengthen the harmonious relation between the host State Governments, the local people and the Tibetans in South India.
  • To liaise between the concerned State Governments, the Central Tibetan Administration, donor agencies and individual donors and Tibetans living in South India.
  • To arrange and coordinate the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, State Government officials, CTA officials and foreigners from abroad.
  • To provide assistant and help to the Tibetan who are engaged in petty woolen garment business in the Southern states of India.
  • To assist in the education of settlers and youth.
