The elders from these camps had stayed in Mustang, Nepal, for more than a decade resisting Chinese invasion with the sole aim of regaining Tibet’s freedom. These three camps were founded in different years starting from 1973 and Jampaling in 1975.

Settlers’ Livelihood

Since Jampaling is primarily an agricultural settlement, most of the residents are farmers. However, an increasing number of people are transitioning to other occupations, such as owning restaurants, grocery stores, and other small businesses. Likewise, since Paljorling is located in city area, most of the residents are into petty businesses like selling souvenir stuffs to tourists and few have small reastaurants adjacent to the settlement. Most of the residents at Tashi Gaang have restaurants near by the camp.
