Sikyong Penpa Tsering Begins His Second Leg of Official Visits to Tibetan Settlements in Uttarakhand and Sirmaur

Dharamshala: On 24 September 2024, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration formally visited the Paonta Cholsum Tibetan Settlement to begin his second leg of official visits to Tibetan settlements in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district.

Upon arrival, Sikyong was accorded a warm welcome reception by Tibetan Settlement Officer Gelek Jamyang, President of the Local Tibetan Assembly, President of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, the treasurer of Shalu Monastery, and representatives from Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, local Sambhota Tibetan School, and the Tibetan residents.

Later that evening, the settlement hosted a dinner reception and cultural show in honour of Sikyong’s visit.
