Gangkyi, Dharamsala, 27 August 2026: Chief Guest of today’s inaugural ceremony, Kalon Palden Dhondup of Department of Home called for stronger collaboration between Tibetan cooperative societies and the Department of Home while addressing the 25th Annual Tibetan Cooperative Conference held on 27th August 2026, at the Sikyong Hall of the Central Tibetan Administration in Gangkyi.

The conference brought together representatives of 15 Tibetan cooperative societies across India. The inaugural session was attended by Special guest Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo, Special guest Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang and other dignitaries including the Deputy speaker, justice commissioner, election commissioner, public service commissioner, parliamentarians, secretaries from CTA offices and representatives of the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India (FTCI).

In his address, Kalon Palden Dhondup highlighted the contribution of cooperatives to the economic and community development of Tibetan communities in India. He emphasised that the cooperative movement, built on collective effort and mutual support, has an important role in strengthening the community’s economic foundation.

Drawing from his own experience of leading a cooperative officials, Kalon Palden Dhondup spoke about the importance of cooperation between the Department of Home and cooperative societies. He emphasised that such collaboration can help address challenges more effectively, strengthen coordination and ensure that the needs of cooperative societies.

Kalon Palden Dhondup encouraged Cooperative Societies to strengthen their institutions, work collectively and adapt to emerging challenges. He underscored the importance of shared responsibility and closer engagement with the Department of Home in ensuring the Tibetan cooperatives remain sustainable and continue to serve the community effectively.
A new official website of the FTCI was also launched by Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo during the ceremony.
The conference provides a platform for Tibetan cooperative societies to exchange experiences, discuss challenges and strengthen cooperation for the continued development and sustainability of the cooperative movement.
