
Kalimpong, West Bengal: Following the successful completion of his official visit to Tibetan settlements in Sikkim, Home Kalon Palden Dhondup continued his tour of Tibetan communities in Kalimpong and Salugara from 14 to 18 July 2026.
On the morning of 15 July, the Kalon visited Sambhota Tibetan School, Kalimpong, where he addressed the teachers, staff, and students. He then visited Sakya Tsechen Thrinley Dargye Ling Monastery School. Later in the afternoon, he met members of the local Tibetan community at the community hall, where he delivered a public address and engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session.
As part of his visit, the Kalon also toured the Settlement Office, Local Tibetan Assembly Office, Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement Office, Old Age Home, and the Men-Tsee-Khang branch to review their operations, ongoing activities, and facilities.
On 16 July, Kalon Palden Dhondup visited Ugen Mindrol Samtenling Monastery, Kagyu Thekchen Choeling Monastery, and Gyutoe Monastery, where he met with monks and members of the local Tibetan community.
On the morning of 17 July, the Kalon departed Kalimpong for Salugara. Upon his arrival, he visited the community hall and addressed local residents and members of the Tibetan community. During his stay, he also paid pilgrimage visits to Bokar Shedra Obar Chumeyling Institute, Ewam Nunnery, and Sed-Gyued Monastery.
At 3:00 p.m., following an inspection of the Salugara Community Hall and other local facilities, the Kalon met with the public, where he spoke on matters concerning the community and responded to questions from attendees.
On the morning of 18 July, the Kalon visited the Men-Tsee-Khang branch, the incense factory, the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School, and the Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute before departing from Bagdogra Airport for New Delhi.
On 19 July, he departed New Delhi by train at 5:50 a.m. and arrived at Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamshala, at 3:30 p.m., marking the conclusion of his official tour.
Throughout the visit, Home Kalon Palden Dhondup was accompanied by Acting Secretary Tsering Youdon of the Department of Home and Uma Thinley, Section Head of the Department’s Northeast Division.
