On 11 May 2026, the Chief Representative Officer (CRO) of Ladakh, Tashi Dhondup, paid a courtesy visit to congratulate the first newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Changthang District, Ladakh.
The Chief Representative Officer (CRO) of Ladakh, Tashi Dhondup, paid a courtesy visit to congratulate the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shri Nitish Rajora, IAS, and Superintendent of Police (SP), Shri Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari (JKPS), of Changthang District, Ladakh.
On April 27, 2026, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, officially approved the creation of five new districts—Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar, and Drass—bringing the total number of districts in the Union Territory to seven. The Changthang region presently consists of nine Tibetan settlement camps.
During the meeting, the CRO expressed sincere gratitude to the UT Administration of Ladakh and the people of Ladakh for their unwavering support to the Tibetan community in the region. As a token of appreciation, he presented a thangka depicting the Potala Palace, along with the book Voice for the Voiceless authored by 14th Dalai Lama.
The Chief Representative Officer also briefed the DC and SP about the Tibetan settlements in the Changthang region and discussed issues related to land demarcation, documentation support, and welfare schemes for the Tibetan community. The DC and SP assured their continued support and commitment toward the welfare and development of the community.
