PROJECT DESCRIPTION & PROGRESS:
The construction of RCC Protection Wall & Drainage Construction Project at Samahan Manali Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement was approved in the budget proposal of 2025-2026 financial years. The project was commenced on 10th November 2025 with a total budget for the project is Rs 85,80,170/- out of which Rs 99,323/- was borne by stake holders (beneficiary contribution) and remaining amount Rs 84,80,847/- was funded by the Tibetan Administration Welfare Society (TAWS) through Department of Home. With the approval, the project committee consisting of seven members passed a resolution to commence the work and has mutually decided to appoint contractor Chandan Premi to carry out the project based on his lowest tender submission. A legal agreement was signed between the contractor and Settlement officer on behalf of TAWS.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The main objective of constructing the RCC retaining wall is to protect the residential properties and lives from the landslide as this settlement is at the foothill of a mountains. The embankment construction aims to block the falling rocks and landslide by constructing 3 retaining walls with the dimension of 20X5 meters, 20X5 meters and 10X5 meters, and channelized drainage with the dimension of 25 meter length 1.5 meter breadth, big enough to let the water flow through the main drainage system.
CONCLUSION:
RCC Protection Wall & Drainage Construction Project at Samahan Manali Dekyiling Tibetan Settlement is a highly constructive project for the community as it is located at the foothill of a mountain. Especially, it prevents the landslide, falling rocks and is effective in protecting the colony especially during the rainy season. A total dimension of 100 meter length with 5 meter height of RCC retaining wall has been constructed. The people of our community feel much safer than earlier. It has retained backfill and maintains a difference in elevation of the site area. This project has achieved tremendous success in relieving our most concerning issue and our people have witnessed the ongoing progress until the completion of this project. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to TAWS, for financing and coordinating this project respectively.
