Project Description and Progress
The Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement in Ravangla, Sikkim consists of seven camps, with the community hall serving as the main center for meetings and community activities. However, the absence of community toilets in Camps No.06 had been a long-standing issue, particularly affecting women and elderly residents, especially during the prolonged rainy season.
To address this need, community toilets were constructed near the community hall under the guidance of camp leaders. The facility includes both western and Indian-style toilets and has been built using quality materials such as TMT rods and UltraTech cement to ensure durability. Basic amenities like water supply, wash basins, pipelines, and a water tank have also been installed, along with partial tiling for hygiene and maintenance.
The total project cost was ₹3, 82,030. The project has improved sanitation, cleanliness, and overall community welfare, particularly benefiting women, elderly individuals, and pregnant mothers by providing safe and accessible facilities.
This project highlights the importance of proper planning and execution for sustainable infrastructure. The community expresses sincere gratitude to LTDM for their valuable support in making this project successful.
