Project Description and Progress:

The Kunphenling Tibetan Settlement in Ravangla, Sikkim, consists of seven camps, with the community hall serving as the main center for meetings, gatherings, and cultural activities. Despite its importance, the absence of a community toilet near Camp No. 02 had been a persistent issue for many years, particularly affecting women, elderly residents, and pregnant mothers. The problem worsened during the long rainy season, as the area receives heavy rainfall for most of the year.

To address this need, a community toilet was constructed near the community hall to provide safe, accessible, and hygienic sanitation facilities. The structure includes two separate chambers with both western and Indian-style toilets to suit the preferences of residents. It has been built using quality materials such as TMT rods and UltraTech cement to ensure durability and long-term use. Essential facilities, including water supply, wash basins, pipelines, and a water storage tank, have also been installed, with partial tiling done for better hygiene and maintenance.

The project has significantly improved sanitation, cleanliness, and overall public welfare in the community. It has created a safer and more convenient environment, especially benefiting elderly people and pregnant women. This initiative highlights the importance of proper planning and execution in infrastructure projects, and the community expresses sincere gratitude to LTDM for their valuable support in successfully completing the project.
