Inauguration Ceremony Held for New Tibetan Community Offices in Kalimpong

KALIMPONG, WEST BENGAL: An inauguration ceremony was held on August 6th, 2025, for the newly constructed Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA) and Tibetan Freedom Movement Office, funded by the Department of Home Affairs.

The ceremony was attended by prominent members of the Tibetan community, including Settlement Officer Mr. Tseten, presidents of the Local Tibetan Assembly and Tibetan Freedom Movement, the Cholka Sum President, the Rector of Sambhota Tibetan School, heads of local monasteries, representatives from Kalimpong Tibetan NGOs, LTA and Rangtsok members.

The ceremony commenced with traditional Buddhist rites performed by monks from the Kalimpong Tibetan Monastery. Following the religious proceedings, Settlement Officer Mr. Tseten cut the ceremonial ribbon and delivered a brief address introducing the project. In his speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Central Tibetan Administration, CTRC for funding the project and thanked all individuals and organizations involved in its successful completion of the construction.
