\"\"Bir, January 23, 2025<\/span><\/b> \u2013 The Bir Tibetan Society inaugurated a new guest house and commercial shops today, marking a significant milestone in the community\u2019s self-reliance initiative. Mr. Palden Dhondup, Secretary of the Department of Home, officially opened the facilities by cutting the ribbon, symbolizing an important step towards economic empowerment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event commenced with traditional prayers led by the Dirru Monastery monks, seeking blessings for the project’s success and prosperity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the inauguration, Secretary Palden Dhondup addressed the gathering on the importance of this project. He emphasized that this initiative provides economic opportunities, supports the local Tibetan community, and ensures financial sustainability for the Settlement Office\u2019s operational expenses. He highlighted that the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has been supporting similar self-reliance projects in settlements such as Delhi, Hunsur, Dharamsala, and Mundgod over the past few years. He further assured that the CTA remains committed to the welfare of Tibetan settlements until they achieve complete self-sufficiency.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his address, he also underscored the importance of expressing gratitude to His Holiness and the elder generation, acknowledging that the progress achieved today is due to their dedication and efforts. Additionally, he urged the younger generation to uphold the virtuous character of Tibetan culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He expressed appreciation for the project implementation partners for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the successful completion of the project. The guest house and shops represent a strategic investment in local infrastructure, demonstrating the community’s commitment to sustainable development and economic independence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by key government officials, including Ms. Tashi Dickey, Additional Secretary of the Department of Home, Settlement officers Karma Namgyal . BTS Tsoktso, TSO Chuntra and Bir dege and community leaders.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
