Project Description & Progress:-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sakya Tibetan Settlement, which has 147 homes and 507 residents overall, is located in the foothills of the Shivalik highlands. The primary sources of income for the residents of this town are farming and the winter sweater business.<\/p>\n

Because it is situated in the foothills of the Shivalik hills, close to a river basin in the Dhopharia khat of Saalwala Panchayat, it is particularly vulnerable to flooding during the monsoon season. Extremely heavy rains began on August 25, 2024, and continued until noon on August 26. It caused the front portion of the office bridge to be damaged, the boundary and drainage wall to collapse, and severe water overflowed beneath the office bridge and surrounding area. Fortunately, during his official visit to our settlement, CTA Sikyong Penpa Tsering after witnessing the devastation caused by the natural disaster in our region instructed us to submit a report and an urgent proposal for the immediate renovation of the damaged areas.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Puruwala settlement office road project’s initial cost is Rs. 9,10,960 and the Sakya Tibetan Society agreed to bear Rs. 2,00,000 to reconnect the bridge by filling in the collapsed portions of the bridge and the adjacent area to stop further soil erosion from rain. The temporary work to make the road motorable was completed by STS. The remaining work to reinforce the collapse area which involves building a RCC retaining wall to support the damage beam of the bridge, on the left side of the bridge that is 50 feet long, 12 feet high, and 4 feet thick, and another that is 28 feet long, 12 feet high, and 4 feet thick on the front left side of the bridge. Total 78 feet long RCC reinforcement retaining wall construction work were funded by CTRC with total cost amounting to Rs. 7, 10,960. The contractor has completed the job in accordance with the agreement and to the project committee’s satisfaction.<\/p>\n

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the CTRC and CTA for prioritizing and funding this project which has greatly alleviated the difficulties faced by the Tibetan community in Puruwala.
