\"\"Secretary Mr. Palden Dhondup undertook his first three-day official tour as the Home Secretary to the Kullu Palrabing settlement and its surrounding Tibetan communities from November 13 to 15, 2024.<\/p>\n

On the first day, he visited the Dobhi and Patlikuhal settlements, where he was warmly received by the Chairman of the Local Tibetan Assembly, Kullu Tibetan settlement office staff and other community representatives. Together, they inspected the completed retaining wall projects, implemented in 2023, in response to the life-threatening flooding caused by torrential rains during the 2023 monsoon season. These relief projects, funded by various donors and the Central Tibetan administration, aim to mitigate the risks to public safety posed by the settlements’ proximity to the riverbank. The visit primarily focused on assessing the effectiveness of these projects in reducing the risk to life and property from natural disasters.<\/p>\n

In addition, during his interaction with settlement representatives, the Secretary briefed them on the department\u2019s ongoing efforts to address land lease issues affecting Tibetan settlements in Himachal Pradesh. He also emphasized the importance of unity in overcoming challenges and safeguarding the peace and stability of the exile Tibetan community, particularly in the face of potential threats from the People\u2019s Republic of China. The Secretary also outlined the Kashag’s vision and introduced recent initiatives, including the creation of zone-based sections within the department to enhance efficiency and improve outcomes.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Secretary toured all six communities under the jurisdiction of the Kullu Palrabling settlement office: Dobhi Palrabing, Patlikuhal, 15 Mile, Kullu Yulokoe, Manali, and Bhuntar Phuntsok Rabten Ling. In response to requests for project funding from the community representatives, he reassured them that the Central Tibetan Administration and home department remain committed to addressing the urgent needs of the community and will take necessary measures to support these efforts.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
