PROJECT DESCRIPTION & PROGRESS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Staff Quarter interior renovation and Water Tank Project\u00a0at the\u00a0Tibetan settlement, Pandoh\u00a0was approved in the budget proposal for the financial\u00a0year\u00a02024-2025.\u00a0The first phase of the renovation project commenced on 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0June 2024\u00a0and the entire work was completed on 5th<\/sup> September, 2024. The total budget\u00a0for the first phase is Rs.1, 370,500 as per the tender call. After the\u00a0budget\u00a0approval,\u00a0the project committee consisting of five\u00a0members\u00a0passed a resolution\u00a0unanimously by selecting contractor Mr. Khem Chand\u00a0to\u00a0carry out\u00a0the\u00a0renovation work of Pandoh Tibetan\u00a0Settlement Office Staff quarter.\u00a0A legal agreement was signed between the contractor and\u00a0the Settlement officer\u00a0on behalf of TAWS.<\/p>\n

The remaining work of staff quarter renovation commenced on 21st<\/sup> September, 2024 and was duly completed on 10th<\/sup> October, 2024 as mentioned in the project agreement. The total budget for the remaining renovation project is 164,000 as per the tender call.<\/p>\n

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main objective of staff quarter renovation and water tank installation is to enhance overall staff welfare and improve\u00a0the\u00a0staff health and livelihood. Since\u00a0the Settlement staffs\u00a0are accommodated in small settlement houses which were\u00a0constructed in the late 1960s by the BBMB Pandoh. During monsoons, heavy rainfall causes water leakage and moisture inside the rooms which\u00a0leads to\u00a0subsequent\u00a0accumulation of damping molds\u00a0in and around the quarters.\u00a0Furthermore, the humidity deteriorates\u00a0wooden\u00a0parts of the house (door, cupboard, and window) which also impacts the resident staff\u2019s\u00a0physical and mental\u00a0health.\u00a0Pandoh Tibetan settlement has had a water shortage crisis for a long time and it exacerbates during the monsoon season as the area is prone to natural disasters like landslides and floods. It has been increasing more every year due to climate change, which further leads to the scarcity of water proving the necessity for the installation of a water tank near Staff Quarters\u00a0for the staff utility.<\/p>\n

CONCLUSION:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The best viable solution for the above mentioned problem was an interior renovation of the staff quarters which will help prevent moisture accumulation in the house. \u00a0Installation of water tanks at each quarter for water storage will mitigate the water shortage and improve overall comfort resulting in benefits for both the physical and mental health of the staff. This project has achieved tremendous success in relieving our most concerning issue and staff have witnessed the ongoing progress until the completion of this project. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to TAWS, and CTRC for financing and coordinating this project respectively.<\/strong><\/p>\n
