{"id":6515,"date":"2024-09-27T06:49:43","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T06:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centraltibetanreliefcommittee.net\/?p=6515"},"modified":"2024-10-08T10:14:13","modified_gmt":"2024-10-08T10:14:13","slug":"sikyong-penpa-tsering-assesses-damages-caused-by-heavy-rainfall-at-puruwala-tibetan-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centraltibetanreliefcommittee.net\/index.php\/2024\/09\/27\/sikyong-penpa-tsering-assesses-damages-caused-by-heavy-rainfall-at-puruwala-tibetan-settlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Sikyong Penpa Tsering Assesses Damages Caused by Heavy Rainfall at Puruwala Tibetan Settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_grid cols_1 laptops-cols_inherit tablets-cols_inherit mobiles-cols_1 valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>Herberpur: On the morning of 26 September 2024, Sikyong Penpa Tsering visited Puruwala Tibetan Settlement to assess the damages caused by heavy rainfall that disconnected several roads.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, Sikyong visited the Tibetan Children\u2019s Village School (TCV) in Selakui and its affiliate, the Tibetan Private Industrial Training Institute (ITI), in Dehradun.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, Sikyong was accorded a warm welcomed by school\u2019s teachers and students, including Tsultrim Kelsang, the Principal of the Tibetan Children\u2019s Village School, Selakui, and Tenzin Choesang, the Director of ITI.<\/p>\n<p>At a gathering later that day, Sikyong addressed the students and staff members, stressing that Tibetans outside Tibet have a special responsibility to uphold the unique Tibetan identity and maintain the rich Tibetan cultural heritage as the Communist Party of China\u2019s intensified suppressions inside Tibet by enforcing strict regulations. While sharing insights on Tibetan history, Sikyong advised students to go through ancient histories of Tibet to properly comprehend the facts amidst China\u2019s increasing distortion of Tibet\u2019s past.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Sikyong provided an overview of the Sino-Tibetan dialogue, noting that since 2010, there has been no communication between the two sides. However, Sikyong disclosed the existence of a back-channel communication, over which he opined his pessimism for its effectiveness. Therefore, Sikyong emphasised that Tibetans must explore every opportunity that the current domestic and international political situations of the PRC offer.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the exile Tibetan political leader spoke about the geopolitical significance of the Tibetan plateau and China\u2019s mismanagement of Tibet\u2019s water resources, which feed billions of downstream residents.\u00a0Thereafter, Sikyong and his aides toured the school and training centre\u2019s premises.<\/p>\n<p>After concluding his official visit to TCV Selakui, Sikyong visited Khera\u00a0Camp\u00a0Tibetan Settlement and Baluwala Tibetan Settlement later that afternoon.
