Sikyong also visited the settlement’s Tibetan Children’s Village school and briefly interacted with the students and teachers.

Later that evening, Sikyong also addressed the public at a gathering held inside the community hall, where he apprised the audience about the geopolitical and strategic importance of the Tibetan plateau and its environment, which has great potential for fostering regional harmony. It is crucial to preserve Tibet’s unique cultural and linguistic heritage amid increasing restrictions and efforts to suppress Tibetan identity by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Additionally, the benefits of Tibetan Buddhist culture in promoting global peace were highlighted.

Despite ongoing repression and control by the CCP, Sikyong emphasised the Central Tibetan Administration’s Middle Way Approach as a pragmatic and actionable policy to address the longstanding Tibet-China conflict. Sikyong also briefly mentioned the unanimous bipartisan support for the Resolve Tibet Act in the United States Congress, underscoring its significance.

On the same day, Sikyong met and interacted with local dignitaries, including SDM, Councillor, and others, to seek their assistance in improving the Tibetan resident’s livelihoods.

Nyoma, Ladakh: On the third day (10 July 2024) of his ongoing official visits to Ladakh, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration visited the Tibetan Settlement in Jangthang Nyoma.
