  1. Project Description<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Palrabling Tibetan settlement, Dobhi located near the bank of river Sutlej is 25km away from Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh and about same distance to Manali Town. It is also situated at the lower level near to river Fozal and Beas, putting the residents at high risk especially during the monsoon season. Since from 1994 the people have experienced several major flash flood incidents with the most recent occurred on 8th July 2023, resulting in widespread damage and destruction to both lives and assets. Despites the presence of a retaining wall at Dobhi, its low height and overflow of incessant rainfall water led to many households filled with flash water, causing damage to their properties as well. Therefore, the unpredictable nature of flash flood is the key factor causing many problems for the people.<\/p>\n

    1. Project Procedure:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Concerning the above situation, this office requested through a proposal to Central Tibetan Relief Committee (CTRC), Department of Home to support and fund this project. The proposal was approved and has been awarded with a fund of Rs 1,067,310\/- (Ten lakh sixty-seven thousand three hundred ten rupees only.) After the approval the project committee consisting of six members passed a resolution towards Renovation of RCC retaining wall at Dobhi Palrabling Tibetan settlement and has mutually decided to appoint contractor Rimat Ram to carry out the project based on lowest tender submission. A legal agreement was signed between the contractor and Central Tibetan Relief Committee represented by Settlement officer Mr. Tsultrim Dorjee, TSO Kullu. The project was commenced on 3rd January and a total amount for the project is Rs 1,067,310\/- out of which 15% on total project value Rs 160,097 \/- born by stake holders (beneficiary Contribution) and remaining amount Rs 907,213\/- was funded by the Central Tibetan Relief Committee. Moreover, the entire project was agreed upon a lump sum contract basis with payments divided into four installments.<\/p>\n

        1. Project Objectives:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          The main objective to renovate the RCC retaining wall is to improve and enhance the standards and quality of already existing retaining wall. The embankment construction is to retain water and prevent flooding waters from overflowing and to protect the settlement from flash flood in near future.<\/p>\n

          1. Project outcome and Conclusion:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The project was conducted under the supervision of settlement staff, which made timely visits to the sites and undertook regular monitoring from the start of the project till its completion. With the completion of this project, we are hopeful to achieve increased safety and reduced damage from any future flash floods. Therefore would like to thank you for funding this project during the times of need.<\/p>\n
