OFFICIAL TOUR REPORT: MAINPAT PHENDELING TIBETAN SETTLEMENT<\/p>\n

Mainpat, August 10, 2026: An official tour and field visit to the Mainpat Phendeling Tibetan Settlement was conducted from August 6 to 10, 2026, with the aim of supporting development efforts.<\/p>\n

The visit was led by Mrs. Karma Dolma, Department of Home, who oversees the Southern and Central Tibetan Settlements. The team included program staff from The Tibet Fund. The visit reflected ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and strengthen coordination among the residents of the settlement.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Karma Dolma, Ms. Tsewang Yangtso (TSO) and Kunchok Dolma from The Tibet Fund conducted a participatory vulnerability assessment under the multi-sector development program across all seven camps. A total of 135 households participated in the assessment and contributed to the identification of households experiencing higher level of vulnerability. The assessment tool identifies vulnerability based on parameters such as income, debt, livelihood skills, health, education, mental well-being, and social support.<\/p>\n

Based on the assessment findings, individual household profiles will subsequently be collected from the households identified as vulnerable to better understand their specific needs and circumstances. The program is implemented under the Tibetan Economic, Social and Cultural Resilience(TESC). The program is supported with assistance from the American People.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Mrs. Karma Dolma inspected both completed and ongoing projects across the camps and Settlement Office to assess their implementation status and ensure that activities were being carried out in accordance with approved plans. She also reviewed 17 houses under the Bring Back Compact Community (BBCC) project and interacted with the beneficiaries. Furthermore, she toured all seven camps, monasteries, the Old People\u2019s Home, STS Mainpat School’s kitchen, and various other project sites.<\/p>\n

Joint Secretary Mrs. Karma Dolma concluded her official tour on August 10, 2026, with a final meeting at the Settlement Office with the survey teams from the Office of the District Collector, Surguja, Chhattisgarh, who are responsible for conducting the land survey across the seven camps of the Tibetan Settlement. The Tibet Fund team will remain at the Settlement to complete the analysis and assessment of the Multi-Sector Programme.<\/p>\n
