Kalimpong, West Bengal:<\/span><\/strong> Following the successful completion of his official visit to Tibetan settlements in Sikkim, Home Kalon Palden Dhondup continued his tour of Tibetan communities in Kalimpong and Salugara from <\/span>14 to 18 July 2026<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the morning of <\/span>15 July<\/span><\/strong>, the Kalon visited <\/span>Sambhota Tibetan School, Kalimpong<\/span><\/strong>, where he addressed the teachers, staff, and students. He then visited <\/span>Sakya Tsechen Thrinley Dargye Ling Monastery School<\/span><\/strong>. Later in the afternoon, he met members of the local Tibetan community at the community hall, where he delivered a public address and engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of his visit, the Kalon also toured the <\/span>Settlement Office<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Local Tibetan Assembly Office<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement Office<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Old Age Home<\/span><\/strong>, and the <\/span>Men-Tsee-Khang branch<\/span><\/strong> to review their operations, ongoing activities, and facilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span>16 July<\/span><\/strong>, Kalon Palden Dhondup visited <\/span>Ugen Mindrol Samtenling Monastery<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Kagyu Thekchen Choeling Monastery<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>Gyutoe Monastery<\/span><\/strong>, where he met with monks and members of the local Tibetan community.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the morning of <\/span>17 July<\/span><\/strong>, the Kalon departed Kalimpong for <\/span>Salugara<\/span><\/strong>. Upon his arrival, he visited the community hall and addressed local residents and members of the Tibetan community. During his stay, he also paid pilgrimage visits to <\/span>Bokar Shedra Obar Chumeyling Institute<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>Ewam Nunnery<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>Sed-Gyued Monastery<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

At <\/span>3:00 p.m.<\/span><\/strong>, following an inspection of the Salugara Community Hall and other local facilities, the Kalon met with the public, where he spoke on matters concerning the community and responded to questions from attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the morning of <\/span>18 July<\/span><\/strong>, the Kalon visited the <\/span>Men-Tsee-Khang branch<\/span><\/strong>, the <\/span>incense factory<\/span><\/strong>, the <\/span>Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School<\/span><\/strong>, and the <\/span>Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute<\/span><\/strong> before departing from <\/span>Bagdogra Airport<\/span><\/strong> for New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span>19 July<\/span><\/strong>, he departed New Delhi by train at <\/span>5:50 a.m.<\/span><\/strong> and arrived at <\/span>Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamshala<\/span><\/strong>, at <\/span>3:30 p.m.<\/span><\/strong>, marking the conclusion of his official tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the visit, Home Kalon Palden Dhondup was accompanied by <\/span>Acting Secretary Tsering Youdon<\/span><\/strong> of the Department of Home and <\/span>Uma Thinley<\/span><\/strong>, Section Head of the Department’s Northeast Division.<\/span><\/p>\n
