A meeting on citrus fruit marketing was held at ORTC on 11 March 2026, presided over by Mr. Jigme Tsrultrim, CRO, Bangalore. The meeting was attended by four Agriculture Settlement Officers from the southern settlements, the respective AEOs of five southern settlements, and citrus farmers. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the progress of citrus marketing, challenges faced by farmers, and possible future strategies.<\/p>\n

ORTC presented an update on the Citrus Fruit Marketing Survey (2024\u20132026) and shared ongoing efforts to explore market linkages with companies and local markets.<\/p>\n

During the morning session, farmers shared their experiences and challenges in marketing citrus fruits. Key concerns included low market awareness, fruit wastage, and the high maintenance cost of citrus orchards. Participants discussed possible solutions such as promoting citrus in local markets, establishing value-added initiatives like juice processing units, and exploring new marketing channels. Farmers also suggested that intercropping could help generate additional income alongside citrus cultivation.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon session, Settlement Officers and AEOs discussed broader agricultural issues faced by farmers. One major concern raised was crop damage caused by wild animals despite the installation of solar fencing systems.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all participants to work collaboratively to strengthen citrus marketing and support farmers in improving their livelihoods.<\/p>\n
