Jaigaon is 190 kilometers from Kalimpong and borders Phuntsholing, Bhutan. It is a significant Indo-Bhutan border area.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Settlement location:-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kalimpong<\/strong> is a town and the headquarters of an <span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kalimpong_district\">eponymous district<\/a><\/span> in the <span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/India\">Indian<\/a><\/span> <span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/States_and_territories_of_India\">state<\/a><\/span> of <span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/West_Bengal\">West Bengal<\/a><\/span>. It is located at an average elevation of 1,250 meters (4,101\u00a0ft) above sea level. The maximum summer temperature is 27\u2103 and the minimum 16\u2103.Temperature in winter between a high of 17\u2103 and low of 5\u2103.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>No,Village:-<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kalimpong is a scattered area with six areas under our jurisdiction: Algarah, Lava, Pedong, Jagaon, Salugara, and Oodlabari.In comparison to other areas under our control, Kalimpong has the highest concentration of Tibetan residents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Settler\u2019s Livelihood:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because it is scattered, their livelihood primarily depends on Traditional Crafts, restaurants, Army and some are manufacturing Tibetan traditional products like incense, Thukpa, and Tra-zhug.Shops.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facilities in the settlement:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>School and education:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Education is <\/span><span>becoming increasingly crucial <\/span><span>to the <\/span><span>younger generation <\/span><span>in order to <\/span><span>adapt <\/span><span>to modern <\/span><span>life <\/span><span>and <\/span><span>expand <\/span><span>the Tibetan issue to the <\/span><span>rest <\/span><span>of the <\/span><span>globe.<\/span> <span>Almost all <\/span><span>of the <\/span><span>elderly <\/span><span>Tibetan refugees who <\/span><span>fled <\/span><span>to India <\/span><span>following China&#8217;s takeover <\/span><span>of Tibet were illiterate.<\/span> <span>And, <\/span><span>even <\/span><span>in exile, they <\/span><span>believe <\/span><span>that educating the exile children <\/span><span>is one of the most <\/span><span>constructive <\/span><span>and positive things they can do to <\/span><span>help <\/span><span>get the Chinese out of their <\/span><span>homeland.<\/span> <span>Education is <\/span><span>so crucial for defeating <\/span><span>the Chinese.<\/span><span> Schools <\/span><span>were <\/span><span>established <\/span><span>in the settlements to educate their children.<\/span> <span>Sambhota Tibetan School Kalimpong was <\/span><span>established in 1964 and <\/span><span>currently has <\/span><span>453 in school <\/span><span>students <\/span><span>with a total of 46 staff <\/span><span>members.<\/span><span> T<\/span><span>he main school is up to +12. There are approximately 30 to 45 students per class. As the settlement&#8217;s principal position, the settlement officer is responsible for overseeing the general management of the settlement. They are elected by settlers in each of the three provinces, and their function is to act as an intermediary between the Tibetan Settlement Office and relevant authorities, passing on information and resolving issues. Three provinces play a significant part in the growth of the community.
